Serving the poor with love, dignity, and unwavering faith.

Dina Sevana Sabha is a Catholic congregation founded exclusively for the upliftment and liberation of the poor. Our charism is “Upliftment of the Poor”, and our motto is “Service in Charity and Poverty.” The congregation focuses on serving the marginalized and downtrodden, especially women, children, and the destitute. Members lead simple lives, dedicating their resources to the integral growth and well-being of the poor.

About Us

Forty-three years ago, the DSS Sisters embarked on a courageous journey to Bangalore, choosing to settle in Kothanur—a remote and economically disadvantaged village. Immersing themselves fully in the lives of those they served, the sisters embraced poverty, living simply among the poor and sharing in their struggles and hopes

Compassion in Action: DSS at Kothanur

Established in 1982, Dina Sevana Sabha’s Kothanur community continues its mission of “Service in Charity and Poverty” through grassroots outreach among marginalized families. Sisters provide mobile medical care in quarry regions, operate dispensaries and tailoring centers, and run a nursery school to uplift local children. Their pastoral ministry includes visiting the sick, supporting parish life, and offering spiritual guidance. In response to urgent social needs, the community also founded the Infant Jesus Children’s Home for HIV/AIDS-affected children—an enduring testament to their compassionate service and prophetic witness.

Where Compassion Meets the Cross

This mission, born of Mother Petra’s vision and nurtured by Mother Willigard, continues to transform many lives through faith-driven service.
